What would happen if we had another oil crisis?

Would we learn to buy and do everything locally, would we develop alternative fuel sources, would we develop and us mass transportation?What would happen if we had another oil crisis?
We are already in the FINAL oil crisis! This our last chance to change things for the better. Peak oil has already been reached!What would happen if we had another oil crisis?
America seems to be too short sighted to make an alternative fuel source on a large scale. Though you would see a lot more people walking and biking; people would rely on other means of transportation though (buses, taxis, cabs). You may have riots and protesting.
