Did you hear that McCains answer to the oil crisis is drilling off-shore?

Which shore is he suggesting? The Republicans have had their eyes on California for a long time. What do you think about that?Did you hear that McCains answer to the oil crisis is drilling off-shore?
Offshore drilling in Louisiana has resulted in tens of thousands of gallons of crude oil getting dumped into the Gulf of Mexico. When Republicans say that there was no major spillage after Katrina, they are lying - there were oil slicks miles long. No sensible person wants that mess off of their beaches and fishing grounds.Did you hear that McCains answer to the oil crisis is drilling off-shore?
Drilling will have no short term effect. Neither will T.Boone Pickens plan to divert natural gas to automobiles by replacing it with wind power. Both plans have a 10 year horizon. I say let's proceed with both!

The only immediate answer is for the government to rattle the speculators. Dump a ton of reserves on the market one day without warning, then buy everything in sight later, again without warning.

Anyone that thinks we will ever have cheap oil again is sadly mistaken. Burn the fingers of the speculators all you want, and I say we do, but we will still be left with increased demand for oil around the world and a shrinking dollar.

Edit:

News flash everyone. I live on the California Coast. We've been drilling here for years and years! Surfing and the beaches are still fun and the fishing is still good...

Edit:

Where do you live Stephen? I paid $4.38 to fill up yesterday. That is off from the high of $4.52, but only by 14 cents. That's a far cry from $1.89/gallon gasoline.
There are a lot of places off the coast of Florida that should be drilled off of by now! All those left-leaning environmentalists can shut up. The oil rigs won't affect the environment substantially and people at the beaches won't be able to see them. And it will lower gas prices by a lot. A lot of people on welfare and below the poverty line are liberals. And they want to be able to have cheap gas. So why are the liberals so against drilling off our own coasts?!
Wonderful. Bush only dropped the Presidential moratorium on drilling and the price dropped overnight and has been dropping ever since. That should tell you something. The world market reacted to just the thought of America drilling.

12 days ago the price of gas here was $4.05, today it is $3.68.

Oil is not only energy it is world power. Russia, China, Venezuela, Iran, even Cuba have all learned that Oil is power.

Russia Blackmails Poland and most of Europe with its ability to turn off or turn on oil. This is power used in the UN and power over NATO alliances.

China understands its value and is pursuing it around the globe. Why don`t we rescue Darfur, it would be so easy? Because the area in question is China`s private Gas station.

Venezuela Laughs as it gives New Englanders who sign up free heating oil. That is power that says I am stronger than your own President.

Iran can at any time cut off the Strait of Hormuz. This makes them so powerful they can at will threaten the world with Holocaust. Thats power!

Cuba figured this power thing out and is drilling 60 miles off the Florida coast. Who is the major contractor working for them? CHINA.

The Leftist in our country are working as hard as they can to make sure we are powerless. So we have to grovel at the feet of our enemies and make them stronger for energy we already have.

We are and have been seeking alternatives but we don`t have them yet.
Perfect. Since Bush agreed to void the executive order on drilling didn't you see your gas prices go down? Mine went down 40 cents! This would be a good thing.

And the Governor of California has no standing against the President in the matter. National government always trumps state government.
I think if we need or want more oil instead of buying 700 billion dollars worth a year (4 times the cost of the Iraq war) from our enemies we should find our own. It doesn't have to be shipped over water. Don't look now but that's a savings. Just figure out the cost of carrying goods on a ship. That's never going to be nothing. We have to buy gasoline or diesel fuel now if we want to drive to work so unless we aren't going to work until someone comes up with a feasible solution to replace oil we'd better fuel up like we have been.
Just the mention of drilling and a slight reduction in US demand has dropped the price of a barrel of oil by 15-20 dollars a barrel, doesn't anybody understand price speculation?
Yes, drill of California but the oil should stay in California ....for Californians. we are tired of supporting the Red states. run your cars on moonshine. That's all you are good at producing.
Wonderful! Actually the governor of FL has granted permission to drill offshore there. But....... just the thought of making Pelosi go madder (than she already is), I would love drilling off of the CA shore.
i think you havent read the news and are making a typical liberal whine type assumption..as NOWHERE does it say california, your question/rant makes no sense. whats the liberal alternative...DEPEND ON THE SAUDIS?
As an environmentalist, I think anyone who wishes to drill wherever they can is an idiot. I didn't hear what he said, but people should really investigate in alternative fuels.
The guy's an idiot, but an amusing idiot. I'll miss him after the election.
Yes.

McCain is finally getting some intelligence.

Obama will never have any.
Drill wherever oil is. Off of CA: great. We also have oil off of Florida in the Gulf.
and the governor of California have said no to McCain
hahhaha Iguana, your so funny

But never the less priceless
I think it's pretty cool.
Drill here, drill now, pay less!!
