What should we do about the oil crisis?

I think we should stop NASCAR. Not that I have anything personally against it, but they consume about 2 million gallons of gas per race. I mean if you could do that, so easily, why not. What are your suggestions? What should we do about the oil crisis?
On paper stopping Nascar may look good, but as many know just because it looks good on paper doesn't mean that it will be good in real life. Just look at the Communist Manifesto and that looked good on paper but was HORRIBLE and caused so many probalems in real life.

To solve the oil crisis people should encourage the development of new technologies and increasing renewable natural resources. What should we do about the oil crisis?
well thats dumb what about the people whos lives are built on nascar dont you care about them? they are just as important as anyone else! and no they cant just go do something else! thats all they have ever known. Report Abuse

Use electric vehicles and PV cells to charge them. Also to some extent you can use bio-diesel.
43 cars times 500 miles divided by 5 miles per gallon.

About 4300 gallons. Include practice and qualifying, say 10,000 gallons.

Football game.

100,000 spectators X 50 miles divided by 20 miles per gallon.

250,000 gallons.

Stop football. Also baseball and soccer. Probably rock concerts. Los Angeles has to go, people drive too far to work.

Would it work? An average NASCAR race probably generates something over 10 million dollars for the economy. So it's costing you 1000 dollars to save a gallon of gas.

You could make public transportation free instead. A lot cheaper way to save some gas.

A lot of things sound good until you actually do the numbers and see the data.

Oh, and the oil crisis is real. Oil comes from unstable countries and the price is sure to get really expensive because of demand from places like China and India.
...what oil crisis...? what crisis are you talking about....? where...? I havn't seene any ';oil crisis';....??? When was the last time you went to buy some gas that you couldn't....? when? ...what crisis are you talking about...? every gas station that I see is open and pumping !!!! NASCAR...? let the boys have fun... One Navy Aircraft carrier after refueling its planes uses that much A/V fuel for afternoon flight ops...

I see every back yard lawn mower just buzz'n along... what gas crisis....? There is NO shortage on gasoline, oil or any fossell fuel... it's expensive and controlled by a select few but there is no shortage or crisis.... (support your claim...?)
Why stop at NASCAR. If you are serious about ending the oil crisis, just end cars that run on gas altogether. Battery technology is here today thanks to the laptops and cell phones. If all passenger cars ran off pure batteries (no hybrids!) and left light-duty trucks running on gas and heavy-duty trucks running on diesel, I guarantee you that there will be no oil crisis tomorrow.

And for comparison purposes, the US Army consumes 16,590,000 every day for 365 days a year. In this case, there are people that take it personally that so much oil is being used to fight an ';oil war'; that is not militarily winnable. Four years of burning oil and counting.
Oh yeah...stop NASCAR, there's a real solution.

How about the thousands of flights that go on around the world every day? I'm sure that uses up way more fuel than a NASCAR race. How about we ban all international travel?

There is no oil crisis. Get over it.
No, I don't think thats a good idea its a small drop in the amount of oil we use.

Heres how you fix the oil crisis: fuel economy standards on all cars, invest in alternative energy, energy star madate on all appliances, etc... there are much better ways to help stop the oil crisis.
